Throwback to last weekend when Comic-Con San Diego was in full flow and talent, creativity and passion whizzed throughout the convention💥 From superheroes to villains and live actors to comic book characters, there were a mind-blowing number of costumes to look at; which is without a doubt one of the best parts of Comic-Con.
The amount of thought and detail that goes into the works of art that are the costumes is extraordinary. We love seeing all the different ways makeup is used by everyone, no matter what gender, age or skill level they identify with or possess. It’s events like Comic-Con that get our spidey senses tingling by displaying the power of creativity and how it can bring together a gigantic group of individuals who would otherwise never cross paths.
Who took over Comic-Con this year and out shined them all? Any guesses? Wonder Woman!! Not only did Gal Gadot look regal in white this past weekend but every woman, teen, child and man(!) that dressed up as her superhero alter ego slayed the game. This year’s hero was seen in every corner of the convention and we are here for it! When characters like Wonder Woman dawn the big screen it gives all the little girls (and us big girls) a chance to see themselves as the hero of the movie, finally convincing the non-believers that a female superhero can not only succeed but surpass all her male counterparts.
It’s important for women to be noticed as crucial attendees of events like Comic-Con instead of as exceptions to the “rule.” Shout out to Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot for proving critics and marketing companies wrong about this event being for guys and only a few “nerdy” girls. Last years’ Comic-Con was dominated by Reys, this year it was Wonder Woman; which hero do you think will take over Comic-Con 2018?!
Girl power aside it was refreshing to see how people interpret their favorite characters and make them their own. That includes all the non-binary Batmans, Supermans, Pokémon and Betty & Veronicas of the comic universe who proved that ANYONE can be the coolest kid on the block 🤘
One of Profusion’s philosophies is to inspire aspiring artists and we strive to apply this to all aspects of our work. Events such as Comic-Con give us a chance to see what all the amazing artists out there are creating; they inspire us to be better and think of new ways to use makeup! These brilliant ideas help build the foundations of products like our Beauty Books and Pro Palettes.
